Robyn Smith has a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the Victorian College of Pharmacy & a Bachelor of Arts from England. She has worked as a pharmacist in hospital & retail settings in both Australia & England. She worked for 13 years with medicines in the pharmaceutical industry registered in England & Ireland, & for the past 11 years in Australia & New Zealand. She has experience with a broad range of prescription & over-the-counter medicines & has a special interest in psychiatric & neurological medicines.
Robyn has written many Consumer Medicine Information (CMI) leaflets, counselled patients using CMI & listened to their feedback. These experiences have made her very aware of how important CMI is in helping patients & their carers understand & have better control over their medicines. Robyn is passionate about making sure that people have open & free access to CMI.
Robyn has also updated many CMI & Product Information documents with important safety changes, & has a special passion for making sure that updated information is communicated to health professionals & patients as quickly as possible.
She has designed & run several training courses, written procedures & also developed her own dictionary of patient-friendly medical terms.
Robyn has been a member of the Electronic Distribution Working Group (EDWG) since 2012. She chose to become a member of the EDWG committee to work with other people representing consumers, the industry & pharmacy, so that together they can help people to get access to accurate, up-to-date & easily understood information about their medicines.
